Lena Urzendowsky: This is how the “Looking into the Sun” actress spends her days at the Cannes Film Festival

My best friend was visiting, and we found out over breakfast. I cried with happiness and trembled because my body didn't know what to do with so much joy all at once. The most beautiful thing was sharing this moment with Jana [McKinnon, editor's note], experiencing this happiness together.
Feet up before the premiere!
Tell us something about "Looking into the Sun" and your role in it.
It's about four women from different decades, each living on the same farm in East Germany. I would say the film deals with the phenomenon of transgenerational trauma . Angelika, the young woman I play, lives there in the 1980s. She senses the tragic fates of the women in the generations before her and suffers from the fact that no one talks about the past, that no confrontation takes place.
How was it working on set, including with Mascha Schilinski?
What can I say? The work was fantastic! The script, which she wrote with Louise Peter, was so profound and clever that the film had to be something special! When I read it, I was initially being considered for another role, but Angelika fascinated me so much that I asked to audition for her. I am very grateful for the journey I took with Angelika – always lovingly guided by Mascha.
